In recent months there has been a lot of talk about Michigan State wearing special uniforms for this year's Michigan game. Students have taken to Facebook to request black jerseys, and ever since Nike debuted their Pro Combat line of jerseys, many MSU fans have hoped that the Spartans would get to participate at some point.

If you're among the MSU fans that want the football team to wear Nike Pro Combat uniforms, I have good news for you. Nike has announced that the Spartans are one of nine schools that will wear Pro Combat uniforms in 2011. MSU will suit up in them on Oct. 15 against Michigan.

"Nike has provided Michigan State with a tremendous opportunity to participate in the Nike Pro Combat system of dress," Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio said. "Our student-athletes are very excited about being involved in this unique experience. Nike is renowned worldwide for its innovative technology. Like Nike, Michigan State is proud of its championship football heritage. Nike has done a remarkable job of creating a uniform that clearly speaks to the Spartan football tradition with a modern-day look and feel. Our team is looking forward to representing Michigan State and Nike on October 15 against Michigan."

There is no word yet on what the design of the uniforms will look like, but if they're anything like past Pro Combat jerseys, chances are they will not be a pleasant sight for fans that prefer a cleaner, more traditional look.
