Michigan State Vs. Flordia Atlantic: Spartans Take Control As B.J. Cunningham Sets Receiving Record

The running game has powered Michigan State yet again to an early lead this season.

Edwin Baker and Le’Veon Bell both rushed for first quarter touchdowns to help stake the Spartans to a 17-0 lead against Florida Atlantic early in the second quarter.

The Owls on the other hand have done next to nothing with the ball. FAU has had three possessions and failed to get a first down on any of them. The Owls have just nine total yards after one quarter.

The Spartans’ offense on the other hand has been the exact opposite with a balanced attack between the pass and run. MSU has scored on all three of its possessions so far.

MSU receiver B.J. Cunningham also set a record in the first quarter, becoming the all-time school leader in receptions by grabbing his 149th ball. Cunningham passed former leader Matt Trannon, who had 148 receptions from 2003-2006.
