Michigan State has had no trouble in its second tuneup game, coasting to a 27-0 halftime lead behind a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Le’Veon Bell and Edwin Baker both ran for first half touchdowns and Kirk Cousins threw for another, while Dan Conroy tacked on a pair of long field goals to put the Spartans up big after one half of play.
MSU had a 20-0 lead before FAU even picked up a first down, which came toward the end of the second quarter when Owls quarterback David Kooi hit an 8-yard pass to DeAndre Richardson. Graham Wilbert started the game for FAU and hit on 3-of-5 passes but failed to move the Owls’ offense at all.
Cousins got in on the action late in the half, tossing a 1-yard touchdown to Dion Sims with 11 seconds left to stretch the lead to 27-0.
Receiver B.J. Cunningham turned in another big performance, snagging five passes for 73 yards, becoming MSU’s all-time receptions leader in the process.
