Michigan State Vs. Florida Atlantic: Spartans Take On Owls Yet Again

For the third time in the last four seasons, Michigan State is set to take on Florida Atlantic. Originally this series called for two games at Spartan Stadium and one at Florida Atlantic's new stadium, but the latter isn't going to open until October of this year. As a result, last year's game had to be moved to Ford Field, and now the series shifts back to East Lansing on Saturday.

A year ago, Michigan State beat Florida Atlantic by a score of 30-17. The game was a lot closer than people expected, but then again, that was also the case in 2008. That year MSU beat FAU by a tally of 17-0 in a game that saw heavy rain for four straight quarters.

This year, the Spartans are once again expected to win, but if they play like they did last week, it may not be a total blowout. MSU looked sloppy in a 28-6 win over Youngstown State, which is why the score wasn't quite as one-sided as most expected it would be. FAU's season opener was completely one-sided, as Florida beat the Owls, 41-3. MSU is hoping to do something similar against FAU on Saturday, but if the last two meetings are any indication, this game could also be closer than most expect.

Here is a rundown of the important information for Saturday's game:

  • Date: Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011
  • Time: 12 p.m. ET
  • TV: ESPN2
  • Radio: Spartan Sports Network
  • Location: East Lansing, Michigan
  • Stadium: Spartan Stadium
