The Michigan State Spartans (18-5, 7-3 Big Ten) blitzed the Michigan Wolverines (17-7, 7-4 Big Ten) from the start, and held home court in a 64-54 win on Sunday afternoon at Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing.
Draymond Green, who sprained his left knee against the Illinois Fighting Illini in the team's previous game, came back to score 14 points and grab 16 rebounds along with 4 assists. Green had guaranteed that the Spartans would win following their loss to Michigan in Ann Arbor on Jan. 17.
The Spartans jumped on top 25-11 and never trailed, snapping a three-game losing streak in the series with the rival Wolverines.
From here, the teams will face off against the two worst teams in the Big Ten: The Spartans will host the Penn State Nittany Lions (10-14, 2-9 Big Ten) on Wednesday in a game scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. eastern while the Wolverines take to the road to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers (11-10, 3-7 Big Ten) on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. eastern.
