Andrew Maxwell Injury: Michigan State QB Will Miss Spring Game

When Michigan State quarterback Andrew Maxwell sprained his right knee during a scrimmage on April 14, many speculated that it was unlikely that he would play in the team's spring game on Saturday, April 28. On Tuesday afternoon, the announcement became official as the Spartans announced that Maxwell will not be participating in the game.

In his place, redshirt freshman Conor Cook will quarterback both teams.

According to Graham Couch of the Michigan local news outlet, mlive, Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio didn't want to risk Maxwell injuring himself further by attempting to play on Saturday.

"Andrew will not play. Too much of a risk," Dantonio said to Couch Tuesday morning before the team's practice. "He might be able to play (but won't)"

Last season, Maxwell completed 18-of-26 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown in four games played.
