Michigan State Spring Game 2012: Strong Defense Propels White Past Green, 14-2

On the same day the NFL Draft was wrapping up and the Michigan State program was in the process of sending the most Spartans to the NFL since 2000, the current football team was closing out its spring practices with its annual spring game.

With projected starting quarterback Andrew Maxwell sidelined with a knee injury, both offenses were led by redshirt freshman Connor Cook and the offensive showing was reflective of Cook's inexperience in a 14-2 final.

Cook quarterbacked both teams and finished 9-for-26 with 160 yards with a touchdown for the White and an interception for the losing Green squad. The Green actually jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but White scored 14 unanswered behind Cook's three-yard touchdown toss before the half and running back Nick Hill's 32-yard scamper in the third quarter.

Hill finished with 95 yards on 19 carries while running for both teams in the game.
