The Michigan State football program added another good player to an already deep and talented defensive end core when Kenny Hayes decided to transfer to the Spartans after redshirting at Ohio State as a true freshman in 2011.
Michigan State already has Will Gholston, who is an All-American candidate, but it also boasts sophomore Marcus Rush, and three redshirt freshman in Shilique Calhoun, Joel Heath and Lawrence Thomas. Hayes will have to sit out the 2012 season, but with Gholston expected to make the leap to the NFL in 2013, the Spartans will suffer no drop off.
Hayes was granted his release from Ohio State in early August after missing the bulk of the Buckeyes' spring practice sessions with recurring headaches.
