Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio said Monday the Spartans will vote on its team captains on Thursday, according to a tweet by The State News. Quarterback Andrew Maxwell, running back Larry Caper, linebacker Chris Norman, linebacker Max Bullough, defensive end William Gholston and offensive tackle Fou Fonoti were all said to be in the running.
Coming off two straight 11-win seasons, the Spartans have high expectations for 2012 after being picked No. 13 in both the AP and the Coaches poll. However, Dantonio has said his focus this preseason has been on making sure his team refocuses on the future and doesn't look ahead.
Michigan State opens the season Friday, Aug. 31 at home against Boise State.
