The Michigan State Spartans have their captains for the 2012 season, and they are linebackers Max Bullough and Chris Norman, and quarterback Andrew Maxwell.
Bullough, a junior from Traverse City, Mich., who is a two-year starter at middle linebacker, is on several preseason awards watch lists and is a preseason All-Big Ten second-team selection by two publications. He has 112 tackles in 27 career games.
As a sophomore, Bullough led the Spartans in tackles with 89.
Norman, a 6-1, 233-pound senior from Detroit, enters his third season as a starter. He has started 23 of 37 career games at Michigan State and could be the best linebacker on the team this season.
Maxwell is a 6-3, 212-pound junior from Midland, Mich., who finally gets his chance to start after the three-year Kirk Cousins era in East Lansing. He's appeared in nine games combined over the past two seasons and completed 29 of 51 attempts for 294 yards and a touchdown in his career.
