Given the Michigan State Spartans' inexperienced group of wide receivers, head coach Mark Dantonio says, "there has been a little bit of thought," about playing starting cornerback Johnny Adams at the position occasionally, as Josh Slagter of MLive reports.
The Spartans' young receivers have battled some issues this year, especially in the team's 23-7 win over Eastern Michigan last week which featured an inordinate number of dropped passes. Through four games, no player on the team has more than 15 catches.
Those problems have the team considering Adams, an All-Big Ten defender at cornerback, as a possible weapon for the team's offense. In the team's spring game this year, he brought in a 45-yard pass, so the coaches have already seen him flash at least some of the skill set already.
In four games this season, Adams has recorded 12 tackles and four defended passes, plus he intercepted a pass against Central Michigan two weeks ago.
