Michigan State Spartans forward Branden Dawson remains ahead of the curve in his recovery from a torn ACL, and barring a setback, he will be ready to participate in exhibition play with the team on Oct. 30. According to Joe Rexrode of the Detroit Free Press, Dawson has been participating fully in the team's informal workouts and will likely have his brace removed in time for the exhibition game against Northwood (Fla.)
Dawson's recovery has astounded those around the program, including his roommate Travis Trice and head coach Tom Izzo. Trice told reporters that Dawson's recovery has been so quick that he "needs to donate his body to science," while Izzo called him "bionic."
Before injuring his knee, Dawson averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Spartans. With Michigan State losing star Draymond Green to graduation, the Spartans are hopeful that Dawson will be able to pick up some of the slack.
