James Young to commit to Kentucky over Michigan State, according to report

Michigan State will lose out on one of its top prospects for the 2013 recruiting class, according to the Detroit News. Rochester senior guard/forward James Young has reportedly elected to commit to Kentucky over MSU. Young's final four teams were Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State and Syracuse. He is expected to make the announcement at 5:00 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Young, ranked No. 5 in ESPN's top 100, is one of the top-ranked prospects out there. Michigan State targeted him but still have nobody of note for their 2013 class. Young is the leading candidate for the 2013 Mr. Basketball award and averaged 25.1 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season.

MSU will get another chance at a hot prospect next week, as reports have surfaced suggesting that Jabari Parker will make an official visit to the school next weekend. Like Young, Parker made Michigan State one of his final five schools that he's considering, along with Stanford, Duke, Brigham Young and Florida.
