Michigan State's Gary Harris' two big games this past week earned the guard Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors. Harris averaged 18.5 points in two Spartans victories.
Last Tuesday, Harris' 18 points were key for Michigan State in their upset over then-No. 7 Kansas. The freshman guard shot 7-of-12 from the field and made a couple big shots late to help the Spartans overcome the Jayhawks.
Harris followed that gem up with a solid 19-point showing in a 69-41 win over Texas Southern. Harris made 7-of-10 shots and 2-of-4 from three-point land in 25 minutes.
Harris was recruited to Michigan State as one of the top prospects in the country. He was a 5-star according to both Rivals and Scout. Rivals had him as the 25th best player in the 2012 class, while Scout had him as the 16th best player. So far, Harris is living up to that hype.
