The Michigan State Spartans will host the Boise State Broncos on Tuesday night as part of the Spartan Showcase, which is a five-team round-robin tournament. In their first game of the tournament, the Spartans cruised past Texas Southern, 69-41. The other two teams in the tournament are Louisiana and Oakland.
Michigan State is glad to be home, following some serious travel. After a disappointing season-opener against UConn in Germany, the Spartans grabbed a big upset victory over Kansas in Atlanta. Now, Michigan State will be home for their next three games. Under coach Tom Izzo, the Spartans have never lost a home game in November (46-0). So far this season, freshman guard Gary Harris leads the team in scoring (16 ppg).
Boise State has started its season at 3-0, but the Broncos have yet to face a ranked opponent. Sophomore guard Derrick Marks has been stellar so far this season, averaging 16 points and five rebounds per game.
