Michigan State basketball leaving for Armed Forces Classic in Germany on Tuesday

The Michigan State Spartans depart for Germany on Tuesday where they will play the Armed Forces Classic against the Connecticut Huskies.

The Michigan State Spartans head to Germany on Tuesday to prepare for the Armed Forces Classic game against the Connecticut Huskies on Friday, Nov. 9.

Michigan State athletic directed Mark Hollis tweeted that the Spartans were leaving on Tuesday to "honor the men and women of our armed forces." The Spartans will play the Huskies in an airplane hanger at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany on Friday. In the days leading up to the game the Spartans will interact with the troops. On Wednesday they plan on stopping at the USO Warrior Center and the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. On Thursday they will take flights in a C-130 and conduct a children's clinic at the Rec Center.

Last season Michigan State opened their season against North Carolina on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson in Coronado, Calif. in the Carrier Classic. The Spartans are ranked No. 14 in this year's preseason polls.
