The Michigan State Spartans arrived in Germany on Tuesday for their game against the Connecticut Huskies on Friday, Nov. 9 in the Armed Forces Classic. Since arriving the team met with many men and women stationed at Ramstein Air Base.

Last year Michigan State kicked off the season against North Carolina in the Carrier Classic and this year they travel to Germany to play in front of active servicemen and women overseas.

In the video Tom Izzo, Derrick Nix and Travis Trice talk about their experience on their first day in Germany meeting with members of the military. Izzo, Nix, and Russell Byrd visited wounded warriors with ESPN cameras and learned about what a true team is.

The preseason No. 14 Spartans take on Connecticut at 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Last season, Michigan State finished 29-8, going 13-5 in the Big Ten and winning the Big Ten Tournament. In the NCAA Tournament they lost to Louisville in the Sweet Sixteen.
