Michigan State Spartans wide receiver Aaron Burbridge has been the top freshman performer for the Spartans this year, and on Wednesday, head coach Mark Dantonio told reporters that Burbridge will be a "future star" in East Lansing.
So far in 2012, Burbridge has appeared in six games for the Spartans. He's the team's fourth-leading wide receiver, having caught 21 passes for 288 yards, though he has yet to score a touchdown. Of all Spartans receivers with at least 20 catches, Burbridge is second on the team with 13.71 yards per reception.
The good news for the Spartans is that, despite its disappointing 4-4 record so far on the season, Burbridge is part of a cast of receivers that will be back next year. Leading receiver Keith Mumphery is just a sophomore, while other top receivers Bennie Fowler and Dion Sims are juniors.
The Spartans will look to get their season back on track on Saturday when they visit the Wisconsin Badgers.
