The Michigan State Spartans will play the Furman Paladins in 2016, according to Furman's athletic director, Dr. Gary Clark. The game will take place at Spartan Stadium on Sept. 17, which will be the third game of the season.
The matchup with Furman joins what is already a loaded non-conference schedule. The Spartans will open the season by visiting the Alabama Crimson Tide and are scheduled to host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Along with those three games, Michigan State is also slated to host the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
In 2016, Michigan State is set to play the following Big Ten opponents: The Michigan Wolverines, Indiana Hoosiers, Penn St. Nittany Lions and Minnesota Golden Gophers on the road, and the Iowa Hawkeyes, Ohio St. Buckeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Northwestern Wildcats at home.
In non-conference play next season, Michigan State will visit Notre Dame, as well as hosting the Western Michigan Broncos, the South Florida Bulls and the Youngstown State Penguins.
