Michigan State's sophomore punter Mike Sadler was named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week following his strong performance against Nebraska.
Sadler punted seven times against the Cornhuskers, averaging 46.6 yards per punt. Three of his seven kicks were downed inside the 20-yard line. Saturday's performance was the fourth time this season Sadler has averaged at least 45.0 yards per punt. His performance on Saturday also included a 60-yard punt, his second longest of the season.
His 43.3 yards per punt average this season not only leads the Big Ten, but is also one of the best in the country. Sadler's average ties him for the 28th best in all of college football. Four of his seven punts on Saturday went at least 45 yards, with three punts over 50 yards.
While Sadler has been excellent this season, Michigan State has likely used him more than they'd like. Sadler has punted at least five times in eight of Michigan State's 10 games.
