In the 24th annual Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, the Michigan State Spartans will take the field as slight underdogs on Saturday night against the TCU Horned Frogs at Sun Devil Stadium.
Representing the seventh consecutive year where a Big 12 school has met a Big Ten opponent, this year's game will also mark the first appearance by both Michigan State and TCU in the bowl's history. The Oklahoma Sooners picked up a thorough 31-14 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes last year with a bowl record 54,247 fans in attendance. The previous year, the same Iowa team narrowly edged Missouri, 27-24, to give the Big Ten its first Buffalo Wild Wings victory dating all the way back to 1996.
Following a six-win campaign filled with numerous ups and downs, head coach Mark Dantonio and his Spartans will hope to keep their record above .500 with one final victory before New Year's Day. Michigan State entered the season ranked No. 13 in both polls after topping Georgia in triple overtime in the Outback Bowl last January, but struggled to account for the loss of a steady presence like Kirk Cousins at the quarterback position.
