The 20th-ranked Michigan State Spartans football team looks for its second consecutive win over the No. 14 Ohio State Buckeyes at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in East Lansing on ABC. Michigan State is favored by 2.5 points.
Michigan State comes in hoping to jump start a passing attack that has been ineffective all season. Quarterback Andrew Maxwell has thrown for 869 yards in three games, but he's only completing 56 percent of his passes and Michigan State's young group of receivers has yet to come close to replicating the production of last year's departed top three, B.J. Cunningham, Keshawn Martin and Keith Nichol.
The offense has been saved by the performance of running back Le'Veon Bell. He's rushed for 610 yards and 5 touchdowns in four games, including a 253-yard performance last week against Eastern Michigan.
Ohio State comes into the game at 4-0. They've been led by quarterback Braxton Miller, who has passed for 754 yards and ran for 441 yards with 14 combined passing and rushing touchdowns this season.
Both teams come into the game after disappointing performances against Mid-Major opponents last week. Michigan State struggled to score until late in a 23-7 win over Eastern Michigan and Ohio State struggled but beat UAB 29-15 last week.
Michigan State won a defensive struggle between the two teams 10-7 last season.
