Heisman Trophy Throwback: Charles Woodson Wins 1997 Award (Video)

The 2010 Heisman Trophy will be awarded on Saturday night. Actually, it's a given that Cam Newton will take home the hardware, but it won't officially be given out until Saturday night. No Michigan players were invited to New York City for the ceremony, but Denard Robinson is expected to finish in the top ten of the voting, which isn't bad at all considering this was his first year starting and he plays on a 7-5 team.

Although Robinson won't be receiving the Heisman, you can take a trip down memory lane and watch former Michigan cornerback Charles Woodson win the award thanks to YouTube. The 1997 Heisman Trophy ceremony was edited to cover the parts where Woodson is featured and was then uploaded to YouTube.

Woodson edged out former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning to win the award, becoming the first prominently defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy. He is one of three Michigan players to have won the award, as he joined Tom Harmon and Desmond Howard as Wolverine Heisman winners.
