Season Of Giving: Bowl Gifts for U-M, MSU

New, 2 comments

Besides the boatload of money that schools get for playing in a bowl game, the players also get in on the action with some pretty sweet gifts. Michigan and Michigan State are no different and will receive the following for participating in their respective bowls:

↵

Michigan State (Capital One Bowl)

↵
    ↵
  • $420 shopping spree at a local Best Buy. The players must spend this during their official team visit to the store. Why $420? No idea.
  • ↵
  • A watch from Timely Watch Co.
  • ↵
↵
Michigan (Gator Bowl)
↵
↵
    ↵
  • Watch from Fossil Watches
  • ↵
  • Leather duffel bag
  • ↵
  • Commemerative football
  • ↵
  • Jostens ring
  • ↵
  • Oakley sunglasses
  • ↵
↵
↵
It looks like Michigan is getting more, but they also don't get a $420 certificate to spend on whatever they want at Best Buy. Michigan is probably just happy to be in a bowl at this point.

UPDATE: As pointed out by sparto in the comments section, players can't receive more than $500 worth of gifts from bowl games, making the $420 number a little more reasonable sounding. Thanks for the heads-up.
