Earlier reports than Michigan has fired Rich Rodriguez appear to have been premature. TheWolverine.com is reporting that a decision on Rodriguez has not been made yet and probably will not come until Wednesday.
As of 4 p.m. ET, Rodriguez and athletic director Dave Brandon were still meeting, according to the AP’s Larry Lage.
Additionally, a players’ meeting that was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday has now been moved to Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
So anyone’s guess as to what is going on at Schembechler Hall is exactly that: a guess. Speculation as to why Rodriguez hasn’t been fired yet, or who might be in the mix as a potential replacement, is wide open. By the time this post is finished publishing, different sources could be saying completely different things.
What we do know, however, is that a decision on Rodriguez has not been made.
