Michigan needs to get into the top 14 of the BCS standings to be eligible for an at-large berth. Since the USA Today Poll is one of the components of the BCS, the Wolverines will hope to move ahead of the Michigan State/Wisconsin loser, Georgia (if LSU wins the SEC Championship Game) and Oklahoma (if Oklahoma State wins that rivalry game) next week.
