Sugar Bowl 2012: Virginia Tech Loses Another Kicker, Tyler Weiss

Virginia Tech's kickers are dropping like flies. After the news that Cody Journell was suspended indefinitely from the school's football program after an arrest, his replacement, Tyler Weiss, is also no longer eligible for the Sugar Bowl against the Michigan Wolverines:

Kicker Tyler Weiss missed curfew last night and is being sent home. Justin Myer will be the kicker in the Sugar Bowl.

As the Tweet notes, Myer will now take over the kicking duties for the game. He's played in all of Virginia Tech's games this season as a kickoff specialist, but has only attempted two field goal attempts. Both of them were misses, so Virginia Tech may be in a bad place with this one.

In other, related news, Weiss is going to be sent home via Greyhound bus, a fitting punishment.

Journell, the original starting kicker for Virginia Tech, was arrested for a home invasion last Friday. He was charged with a Class 2 felony due to the alleged use of a deadly weapon, at this time believed to be an AirSoft handgun.
