Last week, Rivals released the top 10 of its early team rankings for 2012 college basketball recruiting classes. The top 10 has a Big Ten theme with four schools from the conference landing in the top 10, including Michigan State and Michigan.
↵The Spartans are ranked third thanks to commits from Matt Costello, Kenny Kaminski and Denzel Valentine. They are the second-highest Big Ten school, behind only Indiana, which is at the top of the rankings.
↵After MSU, the next Big Ten team is Michigan at No. 8. Its two commits for 2012 so far are Glenn Robinson III and Nick Stauskas, and they have helped put Michigan as high in the basketball recruiting rankings as the Wolverines have been in a long time.
↵Purdue rounds out the four Big Ten teams by coming in a No. 9 in the nation. The Boilermakers are also No. 9 in the nation in ESPN's 2012 team rankings, just as Indiana is also No. 1 and MSU is also No. 3. Michigan was 10th in ESPN's rankings earlier this week, but Florida has taken that spot after the rankings were updated on Thursday.
