Video: New Michigan Stadium Scoreboards Up And Running

The start of the 2011 college football season is now less than a month away. Fall practice is scheduled to begin for Michigan later this week, and just as the team prepares for the season, so are construction crews. They are working on finishing up the installation of Michigan Stadium's enormous new scoreboards, and based on a look at the construction webcam, the finish line is in sight.

Although the construction isn't done just yet, Michigan started testing the new scoreboards earlier this week with random animations and colors. On Thursday, they tested the scoreboards with Michigan highlights, as seen in this video (via MGoBoard):

By all accounts these scoreboards are massive. They look pretty big on the webcam, and I imagine they look even bigger in person, especially now that the video section of the scoreboard takes up most of the structure. The video section on the old scoreboards was only a small part of the structure, whereas almost all of it is video now. That will make watching replays much better, especially now that everything will be in HD.
