Michigan Football Recruiting: Chris Fox, Taco Charlton Commit

Saturday is a day that will not soon be forgotten by Michigan fans. Not only did the Michigan basketball team beat Ohio State at home and the Michigan hockey team beat Northern Michigan in overtime on senior night, but Brady Hoke absolutely cleaned up on the recruiting trail.

As covered on Saturday afternoon, Michigan picked up four commits in rapid succession. Illinois offensive tackle Kyle Bosch was the first to pull the trigger on committing to Michigan, and Novi running back Wyatt Shallman committed shortly after. Then, not too long after the first two commitments of the day, Cass Tech teammates Jourdan Lewis (a cornerback) and David Dawson (an offensive tackle) verballed to the Wolverines.

The day appeared to be done following the commitments from Lewis and Dawson, but that turned out to not be the case at all. Michigan added Colorado offensive tackle Chris Fox and Ohio defensive end Taco Charlton on Saturday night, giving the Wolverines six commits on Saturday alone. It was a historically good day not only because of the amount of new commits, but also because of their caliber. All of them are consensus four-star recruits, including Fox and Charlton.

Fox is considered the 46th best player in the nation by Rivals. He is 48th in the nation on 24/7 Sports and ranks eighth at his position and first for the state of Colorado. ESPN hasn't rated him yet, but he is on the ESPNU 150 list.

Charlton is also on the ESPNU 150 list. He is ranked 183rd nationally on Rivals and 143rd nationally on 24/7 Sports. The latter site has him sixth in the state of Ohio.

Fox's offer list includes Michigan, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio State and Purdue, according to Rivals. Also according to Rivals, Charlton has offers from Michigan, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse and UCLA.

With Fox and Charlton jumping aboard, Michigan now has nine commits for its 2013 football recruiting class. Amazingly, eight of them are four-star recruits ranked in the top 200 on Rivals. Signing day for 2013 is obviously a long ways away, but Brady Hoke has the Wolverines off to one of the best starts in the country for next year's class.
