Michigan has surprisingly added Scott Sypniewski to its 2013 football recruiting class. Why is this so surprising? Sypniewski is a long snapper, and he is going to be on a full scholarship, according to Chris Rubio, who runs Rubio Long Snapping.

Rubio's site ranks Sypniewski, who is from Illinois, as the second best long snapper in the 2013 class. Even so, it's pretty puzzling that Michigan has extended a full scholarship offer to him. Long snappers are certainly important on special teams, but Michigan has limited space as is with there already being 20 other commits for 2013. To give one of those final spots to a long snapper is odd, to say the least.
In any case, Sypniewski is commit No. 21 for Michigan for the class of 2013.
