The Detroit Pistons open their preseason schedule at home against the Toronto Raptors at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday. The Pistons enter their second season behind head coach Lawrence Frank after finishing the 2011-12 campaign 25-41. Detroit added Connecticut's Andre Drummond with the ninth pick in the draft and traded away Ben Gordon to the Charlotte Bobcats for Corey Maggette.
Frank doesn't plan to play all 17 players on Tuesday, opting to spread his playing time around multiple preseason games rather than try to make room for everyone in each game. The Pistons will get their first look at rookies Drummond, Khris Middleton, Kim English, and Kyle Singler. Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey, and Tayshaun Prince figure to be the Pistons firmly entrenched in the rotation while the rest of the roster fights for minutes.
Toronto looks to improve on a 23-43 record from last season. It selected Terrance Ross one spot ahead of where the Pistons picked Drummond in the 2012 draft. The Raptors defeated Real Madrid on Monday in Toronto.
