When the Pistons play the Raptors on Friday night, they will be looking at a team that is not too different from themselves. Like Detroit, Toronto is in full rebuilding mode and is relying on a core of young talent.
The most polished of all those players is Greg Monroe. So far this season, the center from Georgetown has taken another step forward, averaging 17 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game.
The Raptors have a talented big man of their own in Jonas Valanciunas. The 20-year old rookie is coming off of back-to-back double-doubles for Toronto.
If Detroit wins on Friday, it will be their third victory in its last five games. Coincidentally, those are the only five games this season that the Pistons have played teams from the Eastern Conference.
The Pistons' two prior wins came against the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics.
