Fresh off a pair of momentum-building wins over the lowly Washington Wizards over the weekend, the Detroit Pistons will hit the road this week for a tough game against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Pistons have yet to beat an opponent other than Washington or Cleveland in the month of December thus far, and have still dropped six of their last eight games despite the modest winning streak. Detroit was paced by inconsistent reserve forward Charlie Villanueva in its latest win, as the 6'11 power forward racked up a season-high 19 points with a trio of three-pointers. Villanueva has suited up for only 20 of his team's 30 games this year, but remains an intriguing option off head coach Lawrence Frank's bench for his ability to contribute from the perimeter.
Detroit will face an Atlanta squad that sits just 2.5 games out of first place in the Eastern Conference at the moment. The Hawks hold a 6-4 record over their last 10 contests, and have not quite been as dominant as other teams in the conference on their home floor with five losses in 14 home games.
