Fox Sports Detroit will broadcast the Grand Rapids Griffins game versus the Charlotte Checkers this Friday at 7 p.m., the team announced on Monday.

The game will be called by the Detroit broadcast team of Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond who have been calling Red Wings games for the past 15 seasons. Daniels is a two-time winner of the Michigan Sportscaster of the Year award (2003 and 2010) while Redmond was honored in 2011 with the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster.

The Griffins have recorded three points in their first four games this season which places them third in the AHL Midwest Division behind the Chicago Wolves.

Five Grand Rapids players - Landon Ferraro, Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Chad Billins and Nathan Paetsch - lead the team in scoring with three points each.

The Charlotte Checkers are in first place in the AHL's South Division with seven points through the first five games of the season.
