A new home for the Detroit Red Wings is still in the works, though the exact location for the proposed new facility is still unknown.

Crain's Detroit Business has some of the details -- though none of them are concrete:

he Ilitch family still intends to build a new hockey arena for their Detroit Red Wings, but won't yet disclose the preferred location, and there are no formal talks about the Detroit Pistons joining them in a new facility.

Ilitch, whose parents, Mike and Marian Ilitch, bought the Wings in 1982 and have been planning a new arena for several years, was on a panel with Larry Alexander of the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau and George Zimmerman of Pure Michigan.

The Joe Louis Arena has housed the Red Wings since 1979, and is owned by the city of Detroit. The Red Wings' new arena would be privately-owned and operated.
