Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Adrian Peterson scored twice to help the Minnesota Vikings to their first win of the season with a 24-10 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Peterson finished the game with 23 carries for 160 yards, including a career- high 80-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, as the Vikings (1-2) bounced back from losses to New Orleans and Miami to start the season in which the team totaled just 19 points.

Brett Favre didn't have a great game as he was picked off twice and went 23- for-34 with 201 yards and a score, but it was enough to extend Minnesota's home winning streak against the Lions to 13 games as the team has not lost at home to Detroit since 1997.

Shaun Hill, making his second consecutive start in place of an injured Matthew Stafford, went 29-for-43 with 237 yards, one score and two fourth quarter interceptions for the Lions (0-3), who have lost 22 straight games as the visitors.

Calvin Johnson had six catches for 56 yards while rookie Jahvid Best, who came into the game with five touchdowns, was limited to 26 yards on seven carries and two receptions for 13 yards in the loss.

The Lions made a change to their practice squad earlier this week:

Center Cody Wallace was signed

Cornerback Jonathan Hefney was released

Here is a quick bio on Wallace from Pride of Detroit:

Wallace tried out for the Lions last week. He was with the 49ers for the past two seasons and played at Texas A&M in college.

Hefney was brought in back in January and was signed to the practice squad after not making the 53-man roster.

The Lions will for sure be without at least three starters against Minnesota on Sunday, as Matthew Stafford, Nate Burleson and Zack Follett have been ruled out.

Stafford, as we all know, is still recovering from his shoulder injury. Burleson and Follett are both recovering from injuries suffered against the Eagles. Burleson supposedly has a high ankle sprain and Follett is dealing with a concussion.

Here are the other injury updates for Sunday's game:

Four players are questionable for the Lions: offensive guard Stephen Peterman, defensive end Cliff Avril, linebacker DeAndre Levy and linebacker Landon Johnson. At this point, I expect all four to play. Peterman practiced today after missing a couple days, showing that he should be good to go. Avril and Levy have been practicing this week as well. And with Johnson, he is likely going to replace Follett in the starting lineup, so I expect him to play.

Linebacker Ashlee Palmer and safeties C.C. Brown and Louis Delmas are all probable, which is good news.

Although the Lions will be without Follett, it will be nice to see the defense return to almost full strength if Levy plays as most expect him to.

In a conference call with Minnesota reporters, Lions coach Jim Schwartz left the door open for the possibility that Matthew Stafford might be able to return from his shoulder injury and start on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. However, he closed that door when he spoke to the Detroit media.

From the Freep’s Dave Birkett via Twitter:

Schwartz said Shaun Hill will make his second start this weekend. Stafford said shoulder is doing better but he hasn’t tried throwing yet.

The thought of Stafford playing seemed optimistic, at best. Perhaps Schwartz was waiting to see how Stafford’s shoulder might respond after the players’ usual off-day on Tuesday. Upon coming to Allen Park for practice, however, he was officially ruled out when he didn’t throw.

Hill put up respectable numbers last Sunday against the Eagles, completing 25-of-42 passes for 345 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He faced the Vikings last year with the 49ers, completing 15-of-25 passes for 195 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 27-24 loss.

Five Lions starters missed practice today, including quarterback Matthew Stafford, whose status is still unknown, although he hasn't been ruled out by the Lions yet.

Wide receiver Nate Burleson also was absent from practice today. His status hasn't been made public officially, although fellow receiver Stefan Logan said that Burleson will be out two to three weeks with a high ankle sprain. While Burleson didn't rule himself out the Vikings game, a high ankle sprain would sideline him for this week at the very least.

The other offensive player out today was offensive guard Stephen Peterman. He got banged up during the Eagles game when his ankle/leg was rolled onto by another player.

On defense, linebacker Zack Follett and safety Louis Delmas were out. Follett was a bit woozy against Philadelphia after a big hit on a kickoff, so it's possible he has a concussion, in which case he would have to pass tests to play on Sunday. Delmas may just be taking his usual day off from practice, although he looked to be in rough shape this past Sunday, limping quite a bit toward the end of the game.
