<p>Michigan State's <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/52347/korie-lucious">Korie Lucious</a>, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last month, is expecting to be good to go health-wise by the time the Spartans start the 2010-11 season in November. When he will actually get to play, however, is <a href="http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2010/10/spartans_korie_lucious_awaits.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+msu-spartans+%28MSU+Spartans+Impact+-+MLive.com%29">up in the air</a> because of his <a href="http://detroit.sbnation.com/2010/8/31/1660927/korie-lucious-drunk-driving-michigan-state">drunken driving arrest</a> (he later plead guilty to a lesser charge).</p>
<blockquote>
<p>"(<span class="sbn-auto-link">Tom Izzo</span>) hasn’t really come up to me and actually told me, but I know I’m going to have to miss some playing time," Lucious said. "Whenever he tells me, I’m going to be ready for it."</p>
<p>"I know that I made a mistake and I have to deal with the consequences," Lucious said. "That’s part of being a man, just dealing with whatever happens to you. I’m willing to look past it and just move on with the season."</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Izzo has not announced a suspension yet, but it is expected that Lucious will miss at least one regular season game. So even if he is healthy enough to play come the Nov. 12 opener against Eastern Michigan, it's likely that he will have to wait until the South Carolina game on Nov. 16, or perhaps even the Maui Invitational later in the month, to make his 2010-11 debut.</p>

<p>Less than three weeks before the Michigan State basketball team begins full practices with its Midnight Madness, junior guard <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/52347/korie-lucious">Korie Lucious</a> had arthroscopic surgery to repair a small meniscus tear in his left knee. The procedure was performed on Tuesday. </p>
<p>Here's a statement from head coach Tom Izzo from the official <a href="http://www.msuspartans.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/092810aaa.html">MSU men's basketball site</a>:</p>
<blockquote>
<p>"I feel bad for Korie," said head coach <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="#">Tom Izzo</a>. "He's had a great fall on the court, playing some of the best basketball of his time at Michigan State. The injury is similar to the one <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-basketball/players/26640/goran-suton">Goran Suton</a> had during his senior year, and he was able to return in a short amount of time. We expect that Korie will heal in a similar fashion." </p>
</blockquote>
<p>Recovery is expected to take between two to six weeks for Lucious, which puts him on a timetable to be ready for MSU's regular season opener on November 12 versus Eastern Michigan. As Izzo mentioned in his statement, Goran Suton suffered a similiar injury two years ago and returned in 17 days. </p>
<p>Last season for the Spartans, Lucious averaged 4.1 points and 3.3 assists per game. </p>
<p>SB Nation's Michigan State blog, <a href="http://www.theonlycolors.com/2010/9/28/1718353/korie-lucious-undergoes-knee-surgery-moderate-anxiety-ensues">The Only Colors</a>, notes that this is the second straight season that Lucious's offseason preparations have been affected by injury.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>This is the second consecutive year in which Lucious will go into the season without the benefit of a complete offseason of preparation. Last year, a broken foot suffered in the national championship game <a style="outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; color: #006633; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;" href="http://www.theonlycolors.com/2009/8/8/982087/ummm-i-think-im-going-to-go-ahead">cost him basically the entire offseason</a>. The good news is that he was still able to get into the flow of things pretty quickly, averaging 20.6 minutes, 6.1 points, and 5.3 assists per game <a style="outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; color: #006633; text-decoration: none; font-weight: bold; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; border: 0px initial initial;" href="http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/players/82021/gamelog">in MSU's first 7 games</a>.</p>
