Here’s video of Calvin Johnson’s 87 yard touchdown catch against the Giants on Sunday, during which he starts to celebrate around the Giants’ 45 yard line. In fact, Johnson only had one hand on the ball for the last 47 yards until he tossed it into the air after skipping into the end zone. How's that for completing the process?

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - Eli Manning threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns, and Antrel Rolle's last-minute interception helped the New York Giants hold on for a 28-20 win over the Detroit Lions.

Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 133 yards and Brandon Jacobs recorded a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Giants (4-2), who have won three in a row. But New York had to battle to take the victory after the Lions staged an improbable rally.

Detroit was already without injured starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, and Shaun Hill went down late in the first half with a left arm injury. But Drew Stanton came in and passed for 222 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown to Calvin Johnson.

Jason Hanson kicked his second 50-yard field goal of the game with 2:50 left, and the Lions got the ball back with 2:18 left after forcing a punt. Detroit (1-5) advanced into Giants territory inside the final minute, but Stanton's long pass was picked off by Rolle as New York held on.

It's halftime at New Meadowlands Stadium and the Lions are trailing the Giants by a score of 14-10. Also, Lions quarterback Shaun Hill is out of the game right now because of a hand injury, and the last update was that his return is questionable.

Hill's injury forced the Lions to go to Drew Stanton, who is the team's third-string quarterback, just as the second quarter was winding down. Stanton moved the ball enough to get Detroit into field goal range, and Jason Hanson made an ugly 50-yard kick to make it a 14-10 game.

Earlier in the second quarter, the Giants took a 14-7 lead after the Lions collapsed following a costly penalty that gave New York an automatic first down rather than a possible third and long. The Giants scored on a touchdown pass to Mario Manningham for the go-ahead score.

In the first quarter, the Lions actually took a 7-0 lead on a nice touchdown catch by Nate Burleson. The TD came after the Giants' punter dropped the snap, giving Detroit great field position. The Giants did answer later in the quarter after getting great field position of their own because of a nice punt and stop.

Head coach Jim Schwartz has yet to name a starter for this Sunday's game against the Giants, and with every passing day Matthew Stafford gets closer to returning. According to Jennifer Hammond, Stafford alternated reps with Shaun Hill today at practice, leading to speculation that Stafford is a legitimate option to start on Sunday.

Chris McCosky of The Detroit News elaborated on Hammond's tweet in a story, saying Stafford threw "mostly lobbing sideline routes." He went on to speculate that Stafford is not likely to start. Killer Kowalski seconded that and says it's "likely" Stafford will return on Halloween after the Lions' bye week.

It wouldn't make much sense if Stafford plays at less than 100%. It is more likely that Stafford dresses as one of the backups this Sunday -- according to Dave Birkett of The Free Press, Stafford packed his helmet for the trip.

As for Calvin Johnson, he practiced, but was limited again. Chris McCosky said he wore pads to non-padded drills with his injured right shoulder taped down, so that he could grow comfortable with the limited range of motion. Killer Kowalski is calling Johnson a game-time decision, while Dave Birkett's two cents say Johnson will play.

The news must not be good on the DeAndre Levy front.

The Detroit Lions linebacker is expected to miss his fifth straight game, prompting the Lions to sign Vinny Ciurciu for depth purposes.

Levy missed practice today which means he’s likely out for Sunday’s contest with the New York Giants. Matthew Stafford was also absent, making his status uncertain. Running back Jahvid Best returned to practice after missing out on Wednesday with a sprained toe.

Calvin Johnson practiced again on Thursday and he was actually thrown footballs this time. The only concern is that he was catching them one-handed, while still favoring his bum right shoulder.

After practice, Johnson said that his availability for Sunday's game is still a recent George Clooney flick:

"I’m not guessing or betting anything, it just depends on how it feels," Johnson said when asked about the chances he plays Sunday. "If my range of motion and my strength is there, then I can play. It’s all going to come down to Saturday night and see how it feels then, really."

My plums are telling me that Johnson is going to be standing next to Stafford on the sideline come Sunday, but I hope my bleak outlook on this injury has fooled me.
