Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood will get a shot at his 399th career win for the first time in a month on Saturday.

Osgood has been stuck on 398 wins since Oct. 30 when he defeated Nashville 5-2. Osgood was then listed as day-to-day with a groin injury on Nov. 1 and has been inactive since.

Joey MacDonald had been backing up starter Jimmy Howard in the meantime and was sent to Grand Rapids to make room. Howard hasn’t needed much help, going 9-1-2 during Osgood’s absence. He’s an unbelievable 14-2-2 overall on the young year, so Osgood might not get a whole lot of starts anyway until Howard cools off.

Chris Osgood injured his groin on Monday and is considered day to day. Jimmy Howard was dealing with a back injury last week, allowing Osgood to start in back-to-back games.
