St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) – Darren Helm scored 1:51 into overtime, lifting the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Detroit had a 3-0 lead midway through the game, but allowed the Blues to come all the way back to tie it.

Jimmy Howard, back in net for the Red Wings after missing two games with a bruised right knee, had 26 saves in the win and didn’t face a shot in overtime.

Patrick Eaves, Todd Bertuzzi and Jakub Kindl also scored for the Central Division-leading Red Wings, who won for the second time in three games.

T.J. Oshie, Patrik Berglund and David Backes scored goals to tie the game, but the Blues lost for the seventh time in nine games.

Jaroslav Halak kept them from losing in regulation, making a spectacular sliding save with his left pad in the final minute. But he was unable to stop Helm’s one-timer from the slot on a centering pass from Jiri Hudler.

Halak finished the game with 25 saves.

Forwards Tomas Holmstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, Mike Modano and Dan Cleary, as well as defenseman Brad Stuart and goaltenderChris Osgood, are all out for the club.

He is 4-2-1 with a 2.67 goals- against average in his career versus the Blues.

Joey MacDonald started in Howard's place on Tuesday and gave up three goals on 28 shots, including one on a first-period penalty shot. Johan Franzen scored his team's only goal in the second frame.

Oshie back in the lineup for the first time since Nov. 10 after a broken left ankle sidelined him for 31 games. Though Oshie did not log a point and was a minus-one, he skated in nearly 18 minutes of action.

Also, defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo was hit in the face by a puck in Tuesday's win and was placed on injured reserve.
