<p><span>Nicklas Lidstrom</span> tallied with 24.8 seconds left in regulation to force the extra period as the Red Wings snapped their longest skid of the season. Detroit, which leads the Central Division by a comfortable margin over idle Chicago, hadn’t won since February 28 at Los Angeles.</p>
<p><span>Jimmy Howard</span> gave up an early goal, but was stellar the rest of the way with 26 saves in all.</p>
