Former Michigan cornerback Cullen Christian, who decided last week to transfer, has reportedly decided on a new school: Pittsburgh.

Christian is from the Pittsburgh area, so this is no surprise. This is also no surprise because former Michigan defensive backs coach Tony Gibson is now at Pittsburgh. When Ray Vinopal decided in March to transfer from Michigan, he picked Pittsburgh in part because it was closer to home (he's from Youngstown, OH) and likely in part because his position coach would be the same one he had at Michigan when Rich Rodriguez was the head coach.

Christian played in 11 games as a true freshman last season at Michigan. He, like Vinopal, will spend the 2011 season redshirting. Both players will be eligible to play again in 2012, and they will do so as redshirt sophomores.

Christian and Vinopal are the only two players to leave the Michigan football program so far since Brady Hoke became the head coach.

Cullen Christian, a cornerback on the Michigan football team, is planning to transfer once the semester finishes up next week, according to Scout.com's Bob Lichtenfels. Rumors have been swirling for a few days now about Christian's status, and it appears they are more than just rumors now.

Christian came to Michigan last year and played in 11 games as a true freshman. He was vaulted into the lineup after injuries took out Michigan's starting cornerbacks. The end result was a struggling year for the defense and especially the secondary, but it did give Christian experience.

Assuming he is granted his release, Christian will become the second defensive back in as many months to decide to leave the program. Safety Ray Vinopal announced in March he was going to transfer from Michigan to Pittsburgh. Vinopal was the first player to leave with Brady Hoke as head coach, and now it appears Christian is set to become the second.

Considering Christian is from the Pittsburgh area and some of Michigan's former assistants are now at Pitt, I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to join Vinopal there in the future.
