The Pistons’ losing streak reached seven games with Wednesday’s 99-96 loss to New Jersey.

The defeat dropped Detroit to 4-20. Only 3-20 Charlotte has fewer wins.

Even in defeat, Greg Monroe continued to shine for the Pistons. The second-year center had 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Monroe hit eight-of-11 shots, his third straight game shooting at least 55 percent.

Tayshaun Prince also had 21 points to go with six boards and four assists. It was the most points for Prince since a season-high 29 against Minnesota back on Jan. 18.

Rookie guard Brandon Knight played a team-high 43 minutes, going for 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. Knight is fourth among rookies in both scoring and assists.

The Nets were led by Deron Williams’ 26 points on 11-of-21 shooting, to go with a game-high nine assists.

The Pistons will have two chances to break the losing streak at home this weekend, hosting Milwaukee on Friday and lowly New Orleans, which is 4-18, on Saturday. After that, it’s back to New Jersey for another game with the Nets.

The Pistons continue to slump through a four game road trip as they visit New Jersey to meet the Nets.

The four game road trip for the Detroit Pistons has gone about as well as expected considering their earlier road form. The Pistons got outscored by at least 20 points in all three games against Philadelphia, Milwaukee and New York so far including a 113-86 slopfest against the Carmelo Anthony led Knicks on Tuesday. Wednesday's game against the New Jersey Nets is probably the easiest of the four game bunch, but the fatigue of three games in three nights can't be understated.

New Jersey have been pretty good at home even as they've fallen to a 7-15 record. The Pistons have been absolutely terrible on the road all season with only a single win away from The Palace to their credit, a victory over the similarly languishing Charlotte Bobcats.

The Pistons won only two games the entire month of January while losing 17, but they'll look to start with a new chapter as February begins.

The game will be at Prudential Center at 7:30 PM ET.
