Former Michigan Wolverine guard Carlton Brundidge has formally announced that he will be transferring to the University of Detroit for his final three years of NCAA eligibility. Brundidge is one of three former Wolverines players who decided to transfer from the school after the past season.

The reason that he decided on the University of Detroit was his close family ties with Titans point guard Ray McCallum (a friend of Brundidge) and McCallum's father Ray Sr., the head coach of the team. He also mentioned Detroit's pick and roll game as a perfect fit for his style.

Via the Detroit Free Press:

"Me and Ray had been talking for a little bit and he's been over trying to get me. He was always saying ‘come to U-D, come to U-D'," Brundidge said tonight about his decision to transfer to the Titans for his final three years of eligibility. "We know each other from back in high school days. Me and his dad (U-D coach Ray McCallum) had a real close relationship for a long time. I felt that this was the right place."

Under NCAA rules, Brundidge will not be eligible to play in any games next season, but he looks forward to helping the Titans as a member of the scout team.

"It's going to be hard but I look at it as a learning process to get my mind right, stay in and learn," Brundidge said. "I'll be on the scout team going against Ray McCallum. I'll make him better and he'll make me better."

Late in March, the Michigan Wolverines took a hit to their basketball program, with three players leaving said program to transfer to another school. Evan Smotrycz was the big loss, the sophomore forward ended up going to Maryland, while the departures of Colton Christian and Carlton Brundidge were slightly overshadowed.

According to Evan Daniels on Twitter, Christian has found his new home, as well:

Colton Christian verbally pledged to FIU this morning. He's a forward with two years of eligibility left.

Christian mostly came off the bench for the Wolverines, playing in 10 games in his sophomore year. He only scored seven points while grabbing six rebounds, while playing 51 minutes. He put up much smaller numbers in his freshman year, with four points altogether in 27 games off the bench.

It's unclear why specifically he chose to transfer, but at the very least, we know where he's likely headed with this Tweet.

Back in March, the Michigan Wolverines announced that they had lost the services of three of their players including Sophomore Evan Smotrycz.

Now the 6'9'' forward, who averaged 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last season, appears to have found his new location. CBS' Jeff Goodman posted on twitter early Monday that Evan has given a commitment to the Maryland Terrapins, according to 'sources'.

Maryland gets a commitment from Michigan transfer Evan Smotrycz, sources told CBSSports.

Smotrycz was only being used as a spot starter for a very good Michigan team last season, so he went off in search of a better fit. Perhaps he'll find it at Maryland, a team not quite as talented all around as the Wolverines were in the 2012 season.

For more on the Michigan Wolverines, check out Maize n Brew.

The Michigan Wolverines just took a big hit in their men's basketball program. According to the team's official website, sophomore forward Evan Smotrycz, sophomore forward Colton Christian and freshman guard Carlton Brundidge have decided to leave the basketball program and transfer to another school. There's not a lot of information in regards to why the move was made, but this kind of thing isn't exactly rare.

That doesn't mean it's not significant - this unquestionably hurts the Wolverines. Smotrycz has played in all 69 of this games with Michigan, averaging 19.4 minutes a game with 7.0 points and 3.6 rebounds. His departure hurts the most, with the other two mostly coming in off the bench, but were factors nonetheless.

Head coach John Beilein had some quotes in the official release:

"We never like to see players leave the program, however, Evan, Colton and Carlton have made the decision to transfer and continue their careers elsewhere," said Beilein. "All three are fine young men with bright futures. We wish them and their families nothing but success going forward."

There should be more information regarding their departure and future plans soon, but as it stands, the Wolverines just took a significant hit.
