On Tuesday afternoon, Detroit Tigers right-handed relief specialist Octavio Dotel was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list, according to Chris Iott. Dotel's stint on the disabled list was retroactive to June 3 due to inflammation in his right elbow.

In order to make room for Dotel on the active roster, the club was forced to assign right-handed relief pitcher Thad Weber to Triple-A Toledo. Weber was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA over four innings in two appearances with the Tigers.

SB Nation's Tigers site Bless You Boys ran an article on Monday morning that wondered aloud whether Dotel was going to need a stint on the disabled list. Now that question has been answered.

On Saturday, Dotel spoke with MLive.com's Chris Iott about the situation. Via Mlive.com:

Dotel said he received treatment in the days following his appearance against the Yankees, then threw on the side a bit Wednesday. But his elbow still wasn't right.

"We're doing everything we need to do to get it straight," Dotel said. "We're just going to see in the next couple days how the inflammation goes."

Dotel will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, which will be retroactive to June 3. In his place the club has recalled Luke Putkonen from Triple-A Toledo.
