Martin Frk, the Red Wings' second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, has signed a three-year entry-level deal, according to the Red Wings' official Twitter account.

Frk, 19, was taken No. 49 overall. According to HockeysFuture.com, the Czech Republic native was the leading scorer in the Czech U20 Extraliga, tallying 28 goals and 30 assists in 41 games.

The Red Wings, who didn't have a first-round pick in this year's draft, say they are high on Frk. From the Detroit Free Press:

"We're excited about him," said Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill. "He's one of Czech's top players. He had a tough year last year with injuries, but as an under-ager he was one of the top players at world juniors. Heavy body. Very competitive and he's got some good skills."

Frk suffered a concussion last season during a preseason game, but Nill said that unless it becomes a recurring issue, it's not something the team is worried about.

NHL Draft Grades tend to be a bit subjective since there is usually a several year gap from when players are drafted and players getting their first shots in the league. When there aren't any high profile players picked by a team, there's even less to grade. In related news, there wasn't much news from the Detroit Red Wings on Friday evening when the first round of the NHL draft was conducted.

Their lack of a first round pick kept them out of the headlines, and SB Nation's 2012 NHL Draft Grades gave them an 'Incomplete' grade because of a lack of real impact player picks or trades.

Detroit Red Wings: Without a pick in the first round, the Red Wings may face unexpected challenges in free agency if the trade market at the draft is any indication. INCOMPLETE

That's likely a jab at the Wings being interested in the biggest name free agents on the market this off season, mainly Zach Parise of the New Jersey Devils. That's one that will have to be solved as the off season goes along though. If the draft is any indication, the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to bid high on pretty much everyone.

With the 200th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Draft, the Detroit Red Wings selected forward Rasmus Bodin. He is a big player from Sweden who is listed as being 6-foot-6 and 207 pounds, and he is the final player the Red Wings selected in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Bodin played for Östersunds IK in Sweden last season. In the J18 Elit division, he scored nine goals and had 17 assists for 26 points in 29 games. In Division 1, Bodin had three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 20 games.

The Red Wings have certainly had success with Swedish players in the past, especially later in the draft. Just look at Henrik Zetterberg, who was the 210th overall pick in 1999. Let's hope years from now we're talking about Bodin and the 200th overall pick as an example of a steal for the Red Wings.

Here's a look at all six of the Red Wings' 2012 NHL Draft picks:

Four current or future Michigan hockey players have been selected so far in the 2012 NHL Draft. The latest is incoming freshman defenseman Connor Carrick, who was selected by the Washington Capitals with the 137th overall pick (in the fifth round).

Carrick, like fellow incoming freshman defenseman Jacob Trouba, was with the USA National Team Development Program the past two seasons. He played on the Under-18 Team in 2011-12 and had seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 53 games. A season earlier, he was with the Under-17 Team and had one goal and six assists for seven points in 36 games.

Carrick, as mentioned, is the fourth player with Michigan ties to be selected in this year's draft. Trouba was the first when he went ninth overall to the Winnipeg Jets.
Rhett Holland is the latest player with ties to Michigan State to be selected in the 2012 NHL Draft. He was picked 102nd overall (in the fourth round) by the Phoenix Coyotes, becoming the third future Michigan State player to be picked in this year's draft.
Holland is from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The past three seasons, he played with the AJHL's Okotoks Oilers. He recorded three goals in both the 2009-10 and 2011-12 seasons. In 2010-11, he had two goals. In those three seasons, he had eight, nine and seven assists, giving him point totals of 11, 11 and 10. In that sense, he has been a very consistent player.

Holland is set to join the Michigan State Spartans for the 2012 season.
