In easily their most impressive performance of the summer, the Detroit Pistons rolled through a strong Boston Celtics team by 14 points on Thursday afternoon to move to 3-1 in Summer League play.

Almost as if it was drawn up in advance, the Pistons picked up significant contributions from all three members of their 2012 draft class in the win. First-round pick Andre Drummond put forth 26 strong minutes to produce 10 points and eight rebounds, while second-round selection Khris Middleton added 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting in a start at the small forward position. In yet another head-turning effort, rookie guard Kim English posted nine points, eight rebounds and zero turnovers over a game-high 35 minutes.

Orchestrating the offense throughout for the Pistons was 2011 first round pick Brandon Knight, who displayed a refreshing level of unselfishness en route to tallying 14 assists. Knight led all players in scoring with 19 points, and was too much for an overwhelmed Boston backcourt in the open floor.

Hoping to close things out on a high note, Detroit will conclude its Summer League slate in Orlando on Friday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond, the No. 9 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, has as much potential as anyone in his class. He has Dwight Howard-type athleticism at 6-11 and 280 pounds. He fell to the ninth spot, though, for a reason: Drummond has a lot to learn about the mental and technical aspects of the game.

At Summer League in Orlando, the Pistons are finding out quickly just how steep his learning curve will be, via ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

The Pistons have been a bit surprised at how little Drummond actually knows about high-level basketball. If he was taught much about it at UConn, it didn't stick. They are having to go very slowly with him over certain basic concepts, especially as it pertains to managing a pick-and-roll.

...

"There's new terminology. I haven't heard some of these words before," Drummond said. "I ask a lot of questions. This whole summer league is a big learning experience for me as I move into training camp. I overthink sometimes and try to do it all."

As he's learning, Drummond is showing flashes of his potential with some highlight blocks and dunks. Overall, he was a bright spot in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Thunder, a game during which Detroit head coach Lawrence Frank made his way from the stands to the bench to give Drummond some one-on-one coaching.

Drummond is averaging 7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3 steals and 3.3 blocks in three Summer League games. His development will be one of the main storylines for the Pistons this coming season.

The Detroit Pistons will not have a perfect run at Summer League in Orlando. They were blown out 83-62 by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.

There were a couple of bright spots for the Pistons, however. Austin Daye continued his string of strong performances with 18 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The forward shot 2-for-4 on threes and 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

Andre Drummond also had a solid outing, with 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocks as he battled Oklahoma City's Cole Aldrich on the inside. Eight of his points and six of his rebounds came in the first quarter.

Point guard Brandon Knight struggled, scoring 11 points on 5-for-17 shooting and turning the ball over five times.

Reggie Jackson, Lazar Hayward and Garrett Temple each scored 15 points for the Thunder.

Detroit will play the Boston Celtics on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. ET. The game can be seen on NBA TV.

The Detroit Pistons stayed unblemished at 2-0 in Summer League play on Tuesday afternoon, after a 24-point performance from forward Austin Daye helped lead his team to a 79-74 victory over Orlando.

Though he played just 22 minutes in the game, the 6-foot-11 Daye finished 8-for-10 from the field with a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point land en route to player of the game honors. Entering his fourth NBA season, Daye is a hardened veteran of Summer League ball despite being largely unable to carry his strong play over into the regular season.

The ninth overall pick last month, Pistons center Andre Drummond saw game action for just the second time as a pro, but finished with just three points and three rebounds in 21 minutes on the floor. The one-n-done Connecticut standout previously turned heads with an eight-point, five-rebound, four-steal, two-block performance in his Summer League debut on Monday, but did not make the same type of impact in his second appearance.

Next up for the Pistons is a Wednesday game with the Oklahoma City Thunder. From there, Detroit will take on Boston bright and early at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, and then proceed to face Philadelphia the following afternoon.

The Detroit Pistons started the 2012 Orlando Summer League against the Utah Jazz on Monday. With some strong scoring from their backcourt, they managed a 76-73 win.

No. 44 pick Kim English led all scorers with 18 points on just nine field goal attempts. The shooting guard shot 3-for-4 from downtown and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. Brandon Knight added 17 points, six assists and five rebounds from the point guard spot.

In his first game as a Piston since ending the 2011-2012 season with Real Madrid, the Pistons' 2011 second round pick Kyle Singler scored 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting.

No. 9 overall pick Andre Drummond had eight points, five rebounds, two blocks and four steals. The center who famously shot 29 percent on free throws last season was 0-for-3 from the line, though, including two airballs.

Austin Daye, the "veteran" of the team, finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Detroit trailed by nine at halftime, but outscored Utah 33-11 in the third quarter.

Deron Washington led Utah in scoring with 13 points in just nine minutes. Alec Burks had 10 points.

The Pistons play the Magic Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. ET. It will be broadcasted live on NBA TV.
