Despite beating the Baltimore Ravens 27-12 Friday in the team's second preseason game, Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz was unhappy with the performance of his special teams during the game. And based on his comments to MLive's Anwar Richardson, Schwartz doesn't believe the problems are correctable with the current personnel:

"We got to find better players to be able to execute," Schwartz said. "You can do all the drills you want, but if a guy can't make a play, he can't make a play. We got to find guys who can kickoff cover and punt cover. We were poor in those areas.

"We got lucky because of a couple of penalties, but we were lucky."

The Lions gave up two long returns — an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and a 55-yard kick return — but both plays were negated by Baltimore penalties. The Lions also allowed the Ravens to recover an onside kick late in the fourth quarter with the team only trailing by eight points.

Logan was injured on a play in the second quarter. Lined up as a running back, he attempted to take a handoff from Matthew Stafford, but his leg began to buckle. He and Stafford collided and were piled on by Ravens players. Logan initially limped off the field under his own power, but the cart was eventually brought to the sidelines to take him back to the locker room.

Stafford played most of the first half, completing 12-for-17 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson caught five passes for 111 yards. Detroit's defense held Baltimore without a touchdown and sacked Ravens quarterbacks twice.

Baltimore cut Detroit's lead to 20-12 on a 45-yard field goal by Justin Tucker with 2:12 left in the game. Baltimore's Omar Brown then recovered the onside kick inside Lions territory, giving the Ravens the ball trailing by just one score.
The Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens both moved the ball in the third quarter, but neither team got on the board and the score remains 17-9 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lions backup quarterback Shaun Hill was relieved by rookie Kellen Moore. Hill played the first two drives of the second half and was replaced by Moore with 7:09 left in the quarter. Moore completed 6-of-8 passes for 56 yards on the drive, including an 18-yard completion to Nate Hughes. Moore also connected with Hughes for 16 yards in the team's first preseason game. Those are Moore's two longest completions this preseason.

Baltimore also had a long third quarter drive that ultimately stalled, moving the ball 53 yards in the final three minutes of the quarter. They punted on the first play of the fourth quarter, though, and the punt was blocked by Detroit's Willie Young.

Neither team has turned the ball over through three quarters.

Detroit Lions running back Stefan Logan left Friday's game against the Baltimore Ravens with an ankle injury after attempting to take a hand-off from quarterback Matt Stafford.

Stafford turned, appearing to attempt a hand-off to Logan, but Logan started to collapse before Stafford reached him, holding his leg. He and Stafford collided before the Ravens piled on both players. Logan stayed down, but eventually limped off the field under his own power.

Lions staff looked at him on the sideline, then got the cart and drove Logan back to the locker room. The team's official Twitter feed said it is an ankle injury.

Logan had one carry for two yards at the time of his injury. He'd returned one kick for 18 yards and one punt for seven yards. The Lions lead Baltimore 14-9 in the second quarter.

A 33-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff with 4:50 left in the first quarter gave the Baltimore Ravens a 3-0 lead over the Detroit Lions after one quarter Friday.

Cundiff's field goal capped off a 13-play drive that took nearly five minutes off the clock. Two Detroit penalties — a 5-yard offside penalty and a 15-yard personal foul — helped get the Ravens in field goal range. Detroit has committed five penalties for 34 yards in the first quarter.

Joe Flacco is 7-for-12 passing for 79 yards. Ray Rice has five carries for 12 yards and Anquan Boldin has two catches for 31 yards. Baltimore had nine first downs in the quarter.

Despite a recovery from an ACL surgery in November that kept Ryan Broyles out of the first Lions preseason game and has withheld him from several training camp practices, the second-round pick will play on Friday night, according to the team's official site.

The rookie receiver isn't the only one making his preseason debut, as second year wideout Titus Young and defensive end Cliff Avril will both return to the lineup as well.

The Lions also announced that seven players will not be participating due to injury: Mikel Leshoure (hamstring), Kyle Vanden Bosch (knee), defensive tackle Sammie Hill (back), safety Louis Delmas (knee), offensive tackle Jonathan Scott (knee), cornerback Chris Greenwood (PUP) and running back Jahvid Best (PUP).

Starting on defense in place of the injured Vanden Bosch will be defensive end Lawrence Jackson.
