Prized high school prospect Jabari Parker announced that he will be playing for the Duke Blue Devils next fall.

With millions around the world watching his decision live on ESPNU, 2013 high school basketball recruit Jabari Parker officially announced his intention to play for the Duke Blue Devils next season.

The 6'8, 220-pound forward is listed as the No. 2 player in the 2013 class according to Scout.com, and chose Mike Krzyzewski's Blue Devils over offers from Michigan State, Florida, BYU and Stanford. Viewed as one of the most well-rounded players to hit the college game in years, Parker features an ideal frame for the small forward position to excel right away at the college level.

Parker also hails from Simeon Career Academy, a school that was once home to a number of budding basketball prospects, including Derrick Rose, Bobby Simmons, Ben Wilson and Nick Anderson. Despite having the opportunity to take Parker's final in-home visit before his announcement, Tom Izzo and Michigan State once again came up short to Coach K on the recruiting trail. The Spartans have yet to sign a player in their 2013 class, and will now hope to entice one of only a handful of remaining unsigned players in the coming months.

Tom Izzo spoke to Jabari Parker on Wednesday, giving the Chicago Simeon senior one last sales pitch before Parker decides where to attend school.

On Thursday, Chicago Simeon senior Jabari Parker is going to tell the world where he'll attend school and play basketball collegiately next season. Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo made one final pitch to Parker on Wednesday, and Michigan State's head coach will certainly hope that his words made a lasting impact on Parker.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Parker's coach said that Izzo's words to Parker were "huge," and that a personal relationship may help Parker lean toward attending Michigan State -- Izzo is at least hoping so, at least.

"No matter what school you choose tomorrow, me and you will always have a relationship."

That's the last thing Izzo said to Parker at a visit to Simeon today, said Parker's coach at Simeon, Robert Smith. Smith attended the meeting along with the Parker family, Izzo and MSU assistant coach Dwayne Stephens.

"That's huge," Smith said of Izzo's comments, and it indicates that Izzo is counting on his personal relationship with Parker and his family to make the difference.

However, Smith admitted himself that he does not know which way Simeon's star senior is leaning.

Parker has received offers from BYU, Florida, Stanford and Duke, as well as Michigan State. Per the Detroit Free Press, analysts believe that Parker's decision will come down to two schools -- Michigan State and Duke.

ESPNU will broadcast Parker's decision live, at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 20.

The coveted high school basketball recruit has not yet made up his mind.

Jabari Parker, a consensus top-two high school recruit in the country, is set to announce his college decision on Thursday afternoon. That said, Parker's dad said that the Chicago-area star has yet to make up his mind.

"He's still weighing things," Parker's father, Sonny Parker said. "I'm his dad. I don't know where he's going to. I could ask him what school he's going to, and he'll say I'm not 100 percent sure. Hopefully, he'll know something by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Parker has reportedly narrowed his choices down to five schools: the BYU Cougars, Duke Blue Devils, Florida Gators, Michigan St. Spartans and Stanford Cardinal. Parker has long been considered either a Michigan State or Duke lean, with the Gators being the dark horse.

Parker has starred at Chicago's Simeon High, which was once home to Derrick Rose. In his junior season, Parker led Simeon to a state title and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging 19.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.3 blocks and 1.4 assists per game.

Parker is currently sitting out as he recovers from a broken bone in his foot, but he should be read to rejoin the team at the beginning of the year.

Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo watched top prospect Jabari Parker play on Thursday night in primetime, but Parker didn't exactly have a noteworthy performance.

Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo hopped on a plane and made it to Texas in time to watch No. 1 high school basketball recruit Jabari Parker play against DeSoto (Texas) High on Thursday, but Parker didn't exactly shine in the ESPN-televised game. In his second game back from a broken foot, Parker scored just five points, which is the same number of travels he was called for in the game. Parker's Simeon (Illinois) lost the contest, 67-57. Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski was also in attendance.

Parker has narrowed his list of possible colleges down to just five schools - Michigan State, Duke, Florida, BYU and Stanford - and he will announce his decision at 4 p.m. on Dec. 20. Parker and his family are Mormons, so BYU seems like a natural fit from that perspective, but Parker isn't tipping his hand as to where he might land (via the Detroit Free Press):

"I still have doubts, so I'm not fully there. But I'll have it by that day. It's just a commitment. It's not like I'm signing. It still gives me room to make plans in case anything goes otherwise."

Izzo certainly thinks Michigan State is still in the running. Why else would he have bolted from team practice to hop on a plane and fly south for a high school basketball game?

The nation's No. 2 recruit plans on announcing where he'll go to school next Thursday. Michigan State may be the choice, too, according to the player's father.

Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) forward Jabari Parker will announce his college choice next Thursday afternoon, USA Today's Jim Halley reports. Rated the No. 2 recruit in the 2013 class, Parker has been heavily recruited for years, and his father, Sonny Parker, says, "he just wants to get this out of his way."

Parker has publicly narrowed his possible schools to Duke, Michigan State, Stanford, BYU and Florida, but his father says he doesn't know where he'll ultimately choose to go.

"He hasn't told me where. I didn't ask him... He keeps things to himself, so I don't put any pressure on him," the elder Parker said. "I think it will probably be be between Duke and Michigan State. That's what I'm thinking."

The Spartans and Blue Devils are coached by two of the biggest figures in all of college basketball, Tom Izzo and Mike Krzyzewski, respectively. Considering that they routinely bring in top talent and compete with the nation's best programs, it'll be interesting to see whether he ultimately chooses to go to the Big Ten, ACC or even somewhere else.

Top 2013 high school basketball player Jabari Parker is reportedly enamored with the Duke Blue Devils after a recent visit.

Though he was initially intrigued by the possibility of playing for Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans in 2013, top high school basketball recruit Jabari Parker is reportedly leaning heavily towards the Duke Blue Devils after a recent visit, according to Michael O'Brien of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Hailing from Chicago, the 6'7, 220-pound Parker is considered the No. 2 prospect in the 2013 class by Scout and ESPN at the moment. While he already went to East Lansing for his official visit back in early October, the high school senior was clearly blown away by his full tour of Duke's facilities, effectively putting the Blue Devils firmly ahead of the pack.

In addition to holding offers from BYU and Stanford, Parker is scheduled to visit Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators on Friday. The Spartans still remain in contention to sign the future NBA lottery pick, but it's looking like Mike Krzyzewski will once again wind up reeling in one of the country's best players.

One of the top college basketball prospects in America, Rochester High School's James Young has opted to play his college ball for John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats according to a report by The Associated Press.

The 6'6" Young is listed as the No. 9 prospect nationally in the 2013 class by Scout.com, and announced his decision live on ESPNU on Thursday. Young ultimately chose the defending champion Wildcats over suiting up for Tom Izzo and his hometown Michigan State Spartans, in addition to spurning offers from both Syracuse and Kansas in order to head to Lexington.

Though the Spartans were always among the favorites to land the talented scoring guard, Scout.com's Evan Daniels indicated on Thursday that Michigan State informed Young not to even bother with an official visit at all. Young's addition now gives the Wildcats three of the 10 highest-rated players set to hit the college ranks next fall, and forces Izzo and the Spartans to continue their lengthy search for a big-time recruit in the 2013 class.

Michigan State will lose out on one of its top prospects for the 2013 recruiting class, according to the Detroit News. Rochester senior guard/forward James Young has reportedly elected to commit to Kentucky over MSU. Young's final four teams were Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State and Syracuse. He is expected to make the announcement at 5:00 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Young, ranked No. 5 in ESPN's top 100, is one of the top-ranked prospects out there. Michigan State targeted him but still have nobody of note for their 2013 class. Young is the leading candidate for the 2013 Mr. Basketball award and averaged 25.1 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season.

MSU will get another chance at a hot prospect next week, as reports have surfaced suggesting that Jabari Parker will make an official visit to the school next weekend.
